Bob Sidebottom's Comic Collector Shop was a popular comic book store in downtown San Jose's Bookstore Row, operational during the 1960s-1970s. They specialized in both traditional comic books as well as publications from the nascent underground comix scene, stocking work by R. Crumb and Vaughn Bodé. The bag reproduces R. Crumb's hand-lettered text, as well as the shop's logo of a bug-eyed, tongue-wagging customer, with thought bubbles reading "Hot Stuff" and "I wan' it! I wan' it! I wan' it!" This variant with the Monterey address (open only for a few years) is almost identical to the few other examples we've seen printing only the San Jose shop address. An elusive and ephemeral Crumb item. 8636.
