US and UK uncorrected proof copies of Wallace's first novel, originally submitted as one of his undergraduate theses at Amherst College, and subsequently published by Viking (1987) in cloth and wrappers. Provenance: The American proof was acquired through the trade from the estate of Richard Elman, Wallace's writing instructor at the University of Arizona, who supplied the blurb which appeared both on the rear wrapper of the proof as well as the finished dustjacket for the First Edition.
