Reprint. Octavo (20.25cm); dark teal cloth, with titling and decorations stamped in silver on spine and front cover; decorative endpapers; dustjacket; [x],[13],14-269 + [25]pp of plates and ads. Trivial wear to spine ends, else a fresh, Fine copy. In the original pictorial dustjacket, edgeworn, gently spine-sunned, with shallow losses to spine ends and corner tips, a few small splash marks to front panel, flap folds strengthened, with some splits to joints and a jagged tear to upper front panel that have been neatly mended on verso; a substantially complete, Good or better example.

Sharp copy of this 19th century biography of Thomas Alva Edison, showcasing his many inventions, including the phonograph, telephone, and tasimeter, among others. Originally published in 1879, this title was quite popular, going into multiple printings, with each one offering expanded content from the original 151pp volume. Scarce in dustjacket; we were unable to find another example in trade or in the auction record. Provenance: From the Morris-Levin collection of publisher's bookbindings.
