Collection of short stories – 14 of them extensively revised from their original appearance in Dark Carinval (1947) – with the addition of five new stories never before appearing in book form. The jacket and illustrations were done by Joseph Anthony Mugnaini (1912-1992), a distinguished Italian-American artist and illustrator, and a close friend and collaborator of Bradbury's from the early 1950s until his death. Octavo (20.25cm); Currey's 'B' binding, first state, bound in dull red cloth with titling and inverted Ballantine logo stamped in black; dustjacket; [xii],306,[2]pp. Base of spine very gently nudged, else a fresh, Fine copy. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $3.50), showing some trivial surface wear, a few tiny tears to extremities, a 3/4" close tear to lower left corner of rear panel, and some gentle fading to the red lettering on spine; a bright, Near Fine example.
