Lawrence's text in this edition differs significantly from that published by Martin Secker, who excised several passages and entire pages of text due to a character's possible identification with the author Norman Douglas. Octavo (19.25cm); Roberts's 'variant 2' binding in vertical-ruled blue-gray cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine and upper front cover; dustjacket; [6],7-347,[1]pp. Early (1930s) pictorial bookplate mounted to front pastedown, spine gently sunned, some trivial wear to heel, else a fresh, Near Fine copy. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.00), gently spine-sunned and lightly edgeworn, showing some trivial dust-soil, tiny nicks to crown and upper corners, a few tiny tears (one of them tape mended on verso), with a neat 1.5" split at upper front flap fold; Very Good+. Housed in a custom half-morocco clamshell case.
