Together with a short TLS from Michael Levien at Peter Owen Ltd. to award-winning biographer and novelist Lucy Hughes-Hallett: "Herewith a set of uncorrected proofs of Paul Bowles's collection of stories entitled MIDNIGHT MASS, which we expect to publish in May/June. This is for review in Options or possible extract. A book jacket is also enclosed. Let us know if you would like to use one of the stories." Single vertical fold, with some light foxing to the margins. Offered together with a Fine copy of the finished book, and the additional aforementioned dustjacket. A substantially revised edition of the 1981 volume published by the Black Sparrow Press, this one containing 20 stories, as well as a glossary of terms by Bowles not present in the American editions.
