Comments

First Spanish language edition of the author's best-known work, published six years earlier by the University of California Press, though this edition contains an introduction by Octavio Paz that is not present in the English edition. A superb work that reads both as pure fiction, as well as a metaphysical and spiritual masterpiece. While Tovar's translation was reprinted vigorously throughout Latin America, this first printing remains uncommon in the marketplace, particularly in the cloth issue.
