A Fine copy in photo-illustrated wrappers, with 20 sepia-toned stills from Fritz Lang's 1927 masterpiece Metropolis. This special 12-page issue (3 March, 1928) is dedicated entirely to the film. The French premiere of Metropolis was on October 14th, 1927, shown at L'Imperial for three months. In March of 1928, the film had a short one-week revival at the same theater; this issue of La Petite Illustration was printed in anticipation of that event. A scarce piece of ephemera related to one of the towering giants of the silent film era. The original version of the film was heavily cut for its American debut, and as a result, any of the original printed material from the film has become historically significant, and quite desirable. Auction results for this item are a mixed bag; copies will invariably turn up from time to time, but they're usually worn, torn, soiled or worse. This is the copy that won't disappoint, with bright ivory pages and little to be desired - the best copy we've seen or handled.
