Quarto (30.5cm); full brown buckram, with titling and decorations embossed in gilt on spine and front cover; top edge sprinkled brown; xviii,363,[7]pp, with 26 variously-sized illustrations by Matisse tipped in. Faint triangular stain toward upper left corner of front cover, encroaching slightly at upper spine, else Near Fine and clean throughout, lacking the original glassine and publisher's slipcase.


Handsome edition of Joyce's most enduring work, masterfully illustrated throughout by Matisse. The text of this edition was based on that of the Odyssey Press edition, second impression, and at the time was the most accurate text of Ulysses published in the United States.
