Comments

Tolkien's charming, posthumously-published comic story of "a man, a motor-car, three bears, and a 'girabbit' (griaffe-rabbit), devised circa summer 1928, when its telling was recorded in a diary kept by the middle Tolkien son, Michael." The UK edition precedes the American by five months, but the print run for the former (50,000 copies) was twice the amount of the latter. Hammond & Anderson A18b.
