In the first state dustjacket, with 8 titles listed on rear panel; price-clipped, gently spine-sunned, with some light wear to extremities, minor erosion to upper 1" of rear flap fold, and a tiny smudge along front joint; a presentable, Very Good+ example without significant loss.

"Faulkner intended this as a novel, though it includes material previously (or concurrently) published as individual stories. The sections are entitled "Was," "The Fire and the Hearth," "Pantaloon in Black," "The Old People," "The Bear," "Delta Autumn," and "Go Down, Moses." Generally these sections are considerably rewritten from previously published short stories bearing the same titles." Petersen A21b.
