Comments

Culled from the pages of his 512-page manuscript, the excerpts from Kerouac's novel 'Visions of Cody' were shaped by his publisher at New Directions into a tight, cohesive package - something Kerouac's original manuscript lacked. At the center of the novel was Neal Cassady, a dominant influence in Kerouac's life who, as Dean Moriarty in 'On the Road,' achieved literary immortality. It would be another 13 years before the novel was published in full, some four years after Kerouac's death. Not an uncommon book, but as copies go, one could hardly do better than copy No.1. Charters A9.
