First Impression, a paperback original with no hardcover equivalent, preceded by the rare 1938 edition published in the U.S. by McBride. Octavo (18cm); buff wrappers with titles printed in black on spine and front panel; dustjacket; 192pp. Old, faint dampstain to lower text edges, else Near Fine in a Very Good+ dustjacket, lightly dust-soiled, with a faint dampstain at the heel; an attractive copy overall, still quite bright, without any chips or tears.

"Experiences of a traveling salesman and two hitch-hikers on the highway between San Diego and Los Angeles" (Baird 720, p.132). As with the American edition, the British is seldom-seen, though it has been through at least three printings that we are aware of. Basis for the 1947 film noir directed by Felix E. Feist, starring Lawrence Tierney, Ted North, Nan Leslie and Betty Lawford. OCLC notes a single institutional holding at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Hubin, p.130.
