Quarto; photo-illustrated wrappers, with a single staple at mid-spine; 16pp; illus. Very mild toning at the edges, and a little faint thumbsoiling along the right edge of the front cover and left edge of the rear cover. Ciné-Miroir, the par excellence French cinema trade magazine, easily rivaled its Hollywood counterparts of the day. This issue (16 April, 1927) features cover girl Brigitte Helm in a dazzling portrait of her character Maria's double, das Maschinemensch, in Fritz Lang's cutting edge Metropolis (1927). An article with brief details about the film is present, along with Boris Bilinsky's photo-montage as part of the center spread. Also included in this installment are articles and photos about Abel Gance in 'Napoléon', Pola Negri in 'Hotel Imperial', Lilian Harvery, Clara Bow, and Bebe Daniels. The French premiere of Metropolis was on October 14th, 1927, shown at L'Imperial for three months; this issue predates the French premiere by six months, and is among the earliest pieces of French language ephemera for this film. A desirable issue of this journal; OCLC locates 4 instiutional holdings for any issues of Ciné-Miroir, with 2 locations with probably holdings for this particular issue.
