THE EARLY POEMS

New York: New Rivers Press, 1969. First Edition. "An excellent collection of Neruda's early work from La canción de la fiesta up to Anillos. Many of these poems are made available in English for the first time, including the ony snippet of Aquí estoy officially published by then. The editors apparently did not realize that this postdated the other poems in the book by at least nine years. The book was translated by David Ossman and Carlos Hagen and is illustrated with arresting drawings by Lucas Johnson, a well-known artist who lived in Houston from 1973 until his death in 2002. The book also contains an afterword and useful notes by Hagen" (Fisher 73, Pablo Neruda: A Centennial Celebration - A Bibliographical Catalogue). Item #5514
