BROADCASTING CONTRACT FOR MARIONETTES, INC. [SIGNED]

New York: National Broadcasting Company, 1955. Contract for the X Minus One broadcast of Bradbury's story Marionettes, Inc., originally published in Startling Stories (March, 1949), and later included in his 1951 collection The Illustrated Man. Among Bradbury's most popular and unsettling stories, centered around the company Marionettes, Inc., which creates highly-detailed simulacra of existing men and women who act as their surrogates in the real world, often with unintended consequences. X Minus One was a half-hour radio broadcast affiliated with NBC which ran from April 24, 1955 - January 9, 1958, highly-regarded for their science fiction series and radio dramas. A significant, early document. Item #4739

Original mimeographed and typed contract (8.5" x 11"), dated December 12, 1955, with a thin addendum stapled at left margin. Signed and initialed twice by Bradbury, and signed and initialed once by National Broadcasting attorney Charles Moos. Two old folds smoothed-out, mild handling, with a few paper-clip impressions at upper margin.
