A FEAST FOR CROWS: BOOK FOUR OF A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE - INSCRIBED

London: Voyager / HarperCollins, 2005. First U.K. Edition. Fourth volume in Martin's best-selling Song of Ice and Fire series, basis for HBO's Emmy Award-winning series Game of Thrones. Inscribed to long-time friends Mike and Mary Fitzsimmons, who together with Mike's first wife, Barbara, founded and ran Archon, a multi-genre convention in St. Louis, MO. Martin was the Guest of Honor at Archon #1 in 1977, which drew a scant 250+ attendees. On his website, Martin recalls that "Archon I marked the third time in my career that I was asked to be a convention GOH, but the first time they really got it right." His relationship with Fitzsimmons and Mertens spans more than 40 years; Martin would go on to dedicate Fort Freak: A Wild Cards Mosaic Novel (2011) to Mike ("For Mike Fitzsimmons, a good friend and true fan"), and Wild Cards VII: Dead Man's Hand (2017) to Mary ("for Mary Mertens"). Meaningful association copies of Martin's signature works are truly rare. Item #4727
