New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 2006. First Edition. The second of two bound galleys for McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, both issued prior to the uncorrected proof copy in blue printed wrappers. The first state of the galleys was issued roughly six months prior to the publication date of October 2, 2006, with a printed cover leaf with the Borzoi logo and projected date of 9/26/06, and a number of small holograph notations (in copy) throughout the text. This second state was produced on 7/14/06, per the data along the running head of each page of text, with the holograph corrections from the first state presumably implemented, and cover leaf printing for the first time Chip Kidd's finalized cover art for the dustjacket. Both states are scarce, produced in small numbers for limited distribution in-house or to a few high-profile reviewers. Item #4562
