STRANGE MESSENGER: THE WORK OF PATTI SMITH - INSCRIBED TO CRAIG ANDERSON

Pittsburgh: The Andy Warhol Museum, 2002. First Edition. Catalog reproducing a significant collection of Smith's artwork, along with her poem "Babelfield." With essays by David Greenberg and John W. Smith. A nice association copy; during her early years in New York, Smith found steady work at Scribner's Bookshop, The Strand, and occasionally at Gotham Book Mart, supplementing her income by scouting rare books on the side, and one of her earliest poetry readings was held on the roof of The Strand. From the collection of Craig Anderson, Maxwell Anderson's son, and the long-time manager of The Strand's rare book room - inscribed by Smith to he and his wife on the first blank page: "22 November, 2002 / To Craig + Monica / with good wishes always / Patti." Gentle sunning to spine, else very Near Fine.
