HUSK - WITH TLS FROM JOHN MARTIN TO AL BERLINSKI

[Binley Woods]: Beat Scene, [1991]. First Edition. Broadside featuring Bukowski's poem, written in January, 1990, and given away for free to subscribers of Beat Scene magazine (No.15). The poem would appear in book format, with substantial textual changes, in the posthumously-published collection Come On In! (2006). Unaccountably scarce; in his letter to Berlinski, Martin relays the following: "I managed to both get a copy of Husk from Kevin Ring and also buy one on the internet. It's something I was prepared never to find as it was given away in 1991 and I didn't even know about it at the time." We find no examples in the marketplace (July, 2019), and OCLC notes 2 holdings (SUNY Buffalo, British Library). Provenance: Through the trade, from the collection of Al Berlinski. Item #4099

Broadside, with text printed in dark blue on a thick, pale green sheet of marble-patterned stock, measuring 19.5cm x 29.5cm (7 11/18" x 11.5"). A Fine copy. Accompanied by a TLS on Black Sparrow Press letterhead, dated October 9, 2003, from John Martin to Al Berlinski; 103 words; Fine.
