True first edition of Cash's highly-popular autobiographical work, describing his spiritual odyssey beginning in his childhood years, through fame and addiction, and a personal transformation through his faith. While signed copies of the CBA edition appear with some frequency, signed and inscribed copies of the first printing are considerably less common. Basis (in part) for James Mangold's Oscar-winning film Walk The Line, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Item #3931

Octavo (22.25cm); black cloth, with titling and author's facsimile signature stamped in gilt on spine and front cover; dustjacket; 244pp, with 24 pages of photographic plates bound at center. Inscribed by Cash on the front endpaper: "To Wayne White / Good luck / Johnny Cash." Fine in a very Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped (priced $6.95), with some pinpoint wear to crown and corners.
