LAUGH LITERARY AND MAN THE HUMPING GUNS - VOL.1, NO.3 (FEBRUARY, 1971)

Los Angeles: Laugh Literary, 1971. First Edition. Final issue of this short-lived little magazine dedicated to poetry, prose, and artwork, intended as Bukowski's alternative to the Black Mountain Review. He despised the Black Mountain School, going so far as to reproduce the following manifesto on the cover of Issue No.1: "In Disgust with poetry Chicago, with the dull dumpling pattycake safe Creeley's, Olsons, Dickeys, Merwins, Nemerovs and Merediths - This is Issue # one volume one of Laugh Literary and Man the Humping Guns." Contains Bukowski's "The Time I Knocked Out Ernest Hemingway and Was Discovered As A New Literary Giant," with works by Steve Richmond, Al Masarik, Ben Pleasants, Neeli Cherry, Gerda Penfold, and others. In our experience, the most elusive of the three issues. Item #3232

Slim octavo (21.5cm); photo-illustrated wrappers, stapled; [32]pp; illus. A Fine copy.

Price: $150.00
